Onboard ticket validation is a way to streamline the customer experience for quicker boarding onto the vehicle and these validators are used in many Bus Ticketing Systems. In the case of an onboard validator, it is usually an un-manned device located near the doors of the bus or vehicle. It can also be placed in the middle of the vehicle. In many cases, the on-board validators are spread throughout numerous locations of the vehicle. The passenger validates her card upon boarding the vehicle and if an inspector does a spot check, it will be known whether or not the passenger paid for the current trip. In the case that the fare depends on distance travelled, the passenger also passes her smart card through the validator upon alighting the vehicle.
Card validators can be used to validate cards in conjunction with a ticket machine (driver console) as part of an onboard network, or as a stand alone fare collection devices. The Transway validators are part of a larger Electronic Ticketing System, and can, through cellular communication, act as an independent unit. This means that in the case that one or more validators are not in use due to vandalism or for whatever reason, it will not affect the other validators from functioning or communicating to the back office, so that your data is still accurate.
Transway offers a choice of different onboard validators for your Public Transport Ticketing System.
