    TW7020picENG 3iThe Roadzter TIM 7020 is Transway’s newest and most recent Ticket Machine, or Driver’s Console. It is designed for creating paper tickets and for reading smart card tickets on buses, trams, trolleys and other Public Transport Ticketing Systems. The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticketing machine is more than just a driver’s console; It is actually a bus communication platform that supports WiFi, BT, Cellular and LAN technologies.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket machine is part of the larger TapNGo ticket management system, and is one of the newest and most advanced ticketing machines of its kind on the market today. As a sixth generation product, many years of experience and customer input went into the planning, development and making of the Roadzter TIM 7020.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 driver’s console (ticket issuing machine) is used by the driver to sell tickets, to validate and load passenger’s smart card tickets, and report travel data back to the company.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket machine (driver’s console) includes a touch screen, keyboard, printer, and smart card reader.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 is an on board device, and is used on buses, trams, and trolleys.
  • How does it work? +

    The driver starts his day by going to the Driver Cashier Station in order to get credit on his Data Communication Unit (DCU), also known as a driver’s module. In the case that the transit company chooses to work on-line, and provide credit directly, this step can be skipped, and the driver starts his day by getting on the bus and activating the Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket machine.

    The driver inserts his Data Communication Unit (DCU), also known as a driver’s module, which looks like a memory stick, but it actually has a few functions. The Data Communication Unit (DCU) acts as a security key to initiate and use the Roadzter TIM 7020 ticketing machine, an electronic wallet, and a secure database of information. The driver also needs to input his password while the driver’s module is inside, and thus initiates the session.

    The driver proceeds by using the touch screen to choose his route, prints out a report that he has opened his route and can use the Roadzter TIM 7020ticketing machine for selling tickets, validating smart travel cards, adding credit and topping off smart travel cards. All ticket sales and smart card credit purchases are performed with cash. The ticket machine is designed such that the driver and passenger have separate areas. More specifically, the driver can continue using the ticket dispenser machine while passengers are validating cards, and neither will bother the other. If prompted by the dispatcher, the driver can also change to another bus line during the shift.

    By taking advantage of the cellular communications capabilities, information is transferred to and from the ticket dispenser machine from the back office regularly, and at fixed times. This information includes uses of the smart travel card, driver’s details, information on new routes, updated routes, as well as loading credit to the driver’s mobile wallet. These communications are also used to update software and provide lists of rejected cards.

    At the end of the shift, the driver takes the Data Communication Unit (DCU) with him. Every few days, and depending on the company policy and needs, the driver goes with the driver module to the Driver Cashier Station and closes up any debt that he holds.

    The advanced and open architecture coupled with an advanced user interface (UI) is a winning combination that is noticed and felt immediately by the drivers. The combination of a touch screen monitor and a sturdy keyboard makes for a very logical, flexible and simple to use console that is durable, robust and long lasting.

    Made of reinforced plastic and metal (MIL-STD-810E), the Roadzter TIM 7020 ticketing machine is waterproof (IP54) and dustproof, shockproof, vibration-proof and can withstand extended temperatures. Its numerous sensors assure the smooth operation and continued up-time of the unit. Sensors included are end paper, paper out, printer drawer, light, temperature, DCU presence, voltage and current monitor.

    The ruggedized and sunlight readable touch screen can be set to manual or automatic change for optimal flexibility. Brightness levels can set by the driver according to his preference on the high contrast and backlit screen, making it easily viewed in different light conditions and from various angles. Drivers enjoy the benefits of a 7” color display, 256K colors, WVGTA (480 X 800), backlight, LED nits 700, which all mean that the screen is easily readable, even in direct sunlight.

    The separate passenger information display is conspicuous and easy to read. This is a high brightness LCD screen with backlight, 2 lines and 16 characters. The physical keyboard on the side of the touch screen makes it easy for the driver to perform intensive work and typing.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket machine can work in standalone mode or as a central unit that controls multiple peripheral devices, such as validators, external and internal informative displays, electric carousels and other equipment.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket printer machine enjoys a high level of security through the utilization of an advanced encryption mechanism that allows for work with the most popular existing standards, including AES256/3DES/DESx, RSA as well as unique hardware based security or SAM. Physical security is also ensured through the key required to physically remove the Roadzter TIM 7020 from its stationary place.

    The driver’s smart card enables secure identification of the driver and is used to determine the start time and closing time of shifts, as well as identifying the routes.

    The separate areas for the driver and passenger mean that passengers can validate cards while the driver is performing other activities, and neither bothers the other. The passenger oriented interface includes light indicators, keys, print outs and messages.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticketing machine comes equipped with an internal GPS module. This makes it much easier to integrate and utilize different fare based systems, particularly those that are based on zones or distance. The paper compartment holds two (2) rolls so that there is no need to reload during a trip, and designed in such a way as to avoid paper jams. This advanced printer is quick, nimble, removable and easy to maintain. Paper jams are a thing of the past, and cleaning the printer is made seamless through a unique mechanism that prevents paper crumbs. In the case that the transit company uses special or secure paper, it is kept secure, as the drawer is secure through an electronic opening system.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket machine has both built in redundancy and survivability through flexible communication modes and data backup. Communication can be done through CANBAS, RS-485, RS-232 and the data is held both internally on Micro SD, as well os on the NAND flash and Data Communication Unit (DCU).

    The HDMI connection can be used to present travel information to passengers, increase revenue through advertisements, or offer short films and entertainment.

    The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticket machine reads the entire gamut of smart cards, including ISO-14443 A&B, Calypso ®, Mifare ®, DESfire®, and NFS. The Roadzter TIM 7020 ticketing machine also runs on different types of buses, including minibuses, as it is equipped with voltage of 9-36V.

    The interface languages capabilities include up to five languages, including right to left languages.
